This year, Vieques Pops is inspired by the Broadway musical Once on This Island. Based on the 1985 novel My Love, My Love; or, The Peasant Girl by Rosa Guy, the musical is set on a small island in the Caribbean sea. With elements of Romeo and Juliet intertwined with fairy tale, the story concerns a peasant girl who uses the power of love to bring people together. The musical is a celebration of mother nature. Join us as the ensemble sings ‘We dance to the earth, We dance to the water!!’ Broadway star Eric Riley– the original Papa Ge in the show, will join our singers for what promises to be quite an encore!
