Mark Martin Bras & Eliu Parrilla Sánchez giving a talk on the Workshop of PR Tourism Company & Small Business Administration. The talk was about Isla Nena Ecotourism, and it was very amazing. These two people gave and spectacular presentation about all the things we can do here in Vieques with a higher purpose that is create employees for the locals and also protect our environment.

The PR Governor Alejandro García Padilla visited our beautiful island last week, and part of that visit was to sign the transfer of Escuela Barbosa to the Trust.

With great sadness we learned of the passing of our friend Ray McNamara.

Ray was an invaluable member of the Vieques Conservation Trust since its beginnings and remained so until the end.

He helped create the Trust we know today from its conception: from working with shovels and getting dirty on renovations, reforestation’s and cleanups to fundraising and strategizing for the conservation of the island and the bioluminescent bay.

A Board Member for many years he remained an active Honorary Board Member participating in projects that are still ongoing. Never afraid to speak his mind, Ray used his passion and formidable determination to assure the well being of our organization.

A friend to Vieques, he saw this island develop and change through more than thirty years.

Ray will be greatly missed and remembered warmly by all of who knew him.
