Please join our volunteer Bird Team to see some of the many species of birds that Vieques has to offer! All Bird Walks start on the Malecon in front of The Vieques conservation and Historical Trust in Esperanza at 7:30 a.m. Just look for the birders! If possible, please bring binoculars and wear sturdy shoes. Bird Walks are “local” and last approximately two to two and a half hours.
Unfortunately, we are unable to provide transportation; carpooling is encouraged. Our Bird Team volunteers love taking folks on Bird Walks, and there is no cost, but we ask that you consider making a generous donation or becoming a member of The Vieques Conservation and Historical Trust. Donations can be made HERE to show your support. The birds appreciate and need your love (and so does the Trust). Please request that your donation support Bird Conservation!
If you are not a birder, consider downloading eBird, Merlin Bird ID, Bird Net, or the Audubon or All Birds PR -> Antigua apps on your mobile device before your Bird Walk. Join the millions of people around the globe that watch birds for fun and pleasure!
If you have questions before, during, or after, or are a member of a large group, please let us know! Bird Walks are scheduled during the 2023/2024 season on December 20, January 10, January 24, February 7, February 21, March 6, and March 20. Two Spanish-language bird walks will also take place this season, on January 20 and
February 17, starting at 7:30 a.m.
The Vieques Audubon Christmas Bird Count (CBC) will take place on December 30th, 2023 this year. Regardless of your skill level, you are welcome to join us.
